Newly reinstated Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed says he hopes to understand the issues the Parliament Members have with him and improve on them.

He said this at the ceremony held by the Ministry staff today to welcome back the Minister after the Parliament rejected his appointment yesterday. But President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu reinstated Shaheem back to his post hours after the parliament voted not to back him.

The Minister said that the rejection from the parliament was nothing new to him and he has faced such adversaries over the last 20 years on multiple occasions.

He said that the road ahead would not be clear cut as well but that he would persevere with courage and valor. Minister Shaheem said that he would work to find out what issues the MPs have with him and would improve on them.

He noted that the Parliament was the top body of the country's democratic system and that the body should not have any issues with the Islamic Ministry. The Minister said that he had no qualms about the decision from the Parliament and that he would always respect the decisions by the parliament.

The Minister also said that the Islamic Ministry cannot be weakened by political upheavals and in the last two months the employees of the Ministry worked hard to determine the Ministry's action plan which was launched yesterday.

Minister Shaheem also touched on the overwhelming support he received from the public via social media platforms and said he was greatly encouraged by the love and respect from the people.
