Authorities have found the dinghy used by Zakariya Ahmed,79, who went missing two days ago while traveling from Gaafu Dhaalu Gahdhoo to Lan via sea.
The Maldives National Defence Force, MNDF, said the dinghy was found 10 meters deep in the canal between Gahdhoo and Gan in the second dive conducted by the army and police.
The MNDF Coast Guard has searched an area of 2307.99 nautical miles by sea and 3039.68 nautical miles by air, and so far, Zakariya has not been found.
The 79-year-old departed Gahdhoo on the 10th of this month around 09:30 am, and he was reported missing around 05:00 in the evening on the same day.
Zachariyya was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and a black shirt.
