Former Vice President Faisal Naseem has decided to leave the Jumhooree Party after serving it for more than 15 years.
The Party has confirmed that Faisal sent in his resignation letter before leaving the party. Faisal was elected as Vice President in a slot given to JP under the last government run as a coalition.
Faisal acted as a member of MDP when it first came into existence and in 2008 joined JP. He remained with the party since then.
The former Vice President was seen addressing campaign rallies held for Mayor-elect Adam Azim who won the Male' City Mayorship with MDP's ticket.
Faisal is expected to join MDP.
He is the only Vice President who completed his term since the Maldives adopted its current Constitution. Till his last day at office, Faisal maintained that he would always put forward the country and its people ahead of his own interests.
