The Parliament has removed MP for Baarashu Constituency Ibrahim Shujau from the Parliament's State-owned Enterprises Committee following allegations of corruption.

Yesterday, MP Shujau was removed from the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee and appointed to the National Development and Heritage Committee.

This comes after MMA's Financial Intelligence Unit highlighted suspicious transactions carried out by companies that he holds shares in, and after the Police launched an investigation into the accusations.

The report, allegedly prepared by the FIU on some transactions allegedly conducted in the last 2 years for the undue benefit of companies owned by Shuja, has been circulated on social media.

According to the 24-page report, from November 2023 to January 2024, MVR million was paid to companies owned by Shujau and the two family members in connection with various events.

The MP has questioned the validity of the leaked FIU report stating that he had no way of verifying its validity.
