The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts has opened the application for membership of the 'Presidential Youth Advisors' board which will be chaired by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
In an announcement via the government gazette, the Ministry said that it was seeking 4 members for the board formed to advise the President on youth-related topics and include the opinions and aspirations of youngsters in formulating government policy.
It said that this includes 2 (1 male and 1 female) from the area of industry specialists and 2 members (1 male and 1 female) from a civil organization that works to empower youth.
The Ministry noted that interested individuals must be Maldivian, must be between 18 and 35 years of age, must have adequate experience from the industry that he/she represents, and must not have been convicted of a criminal offense in the last five years.
The Ministry invited those interested to submit their application via the link before 14:00 on 8th January 2024.
The 'Presidential Youth Advisors' board will comprise 15 members ranging from 18 to 30 years of age. The board will be formed twice during a presidential term to encourage more young people to join the board. However, as students pursuing higher education and members appointed to the board by the university's Student Council are appointed based on their position in the Student Council/Executive Committee, it has been decided that these members’ tenure will be one year.
The secretariat of the board of 'Presidential Youth Advisors' will be managed by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts.
