Police say they are searching those getting on and off the island of Alifu Alifu Maalhos after an elderly man was found murdered in his home last night.
Police identified the victim as Abdul Rahman Adam,65, from the same island.
They stated that Abdul Rahman was murdered in his sleep and that he was declared dead on arrival at the island's health center.
Sources have said that Abdul Rahman was killed with a hard blow to his head and that part of his skull was crushed in the attack.
A Police team has been dispatched to the island after the murder. A police official said that they have not prohibited anyone from getting off the island, but stated that they were searching for individuals who are getting on and off the island.
Police did not give any more information about the case but insisted that they were further investigating the murder.
