Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed says he will submit the wording of the ballot paper to be used for the upcoming public referendum to change the governance system of the country.
He said this while speaking at a press conference held at the parliament today.
The Speaker revealed today that the parliament would hold discussions on facilitating the public referendum on the system with the relevant agencies and that he would speak with the Chief Justice as well as President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
He had met with President Solih at the President's Office today and held discussions on the system change work.
Nasheed said that the parliament had compiled an information sheet on the government systems and that it would be submitted to the parliament tomorrow.
He said that this document would work as an instruction manual for the process of taking the vote that the information sheet would be debated at the parliament and that it would be approved with a parliament majority.
The Speaker also revealed that he would personally submit the wording that would be on the ballot paper for the referendum and that the parliament would be working on passing two of these documents at tomorrow's sessions.
