President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says the Parliament Member for Noonu Velidhoo Constituency, Mohamed Abbas, is hindering the development of the region.
He made this statement while addressing N. Fohdhoo residents during his tour of the inhabited islands of South Miladhunmadulu Atoll.
President Muizzu stated that the Council is fully supporting the development projects in Fohdhoo, but the government is not receiving any assistance from the MP of the constituency.
The constituency includes the islands of Fohdhoo as well as Lhohi and Velidhoo.
The President said he believes that a person elected by the people should not hinder services to the people because of political differences.
The President added that even MDP MPs have not been hindering the development of the constituencies, so it is easier to carry out development projects in the constituencies. He further said though the MP for Velidhoo Constituency is refusing to provide assistance, his trip to the region would show that it does not matter.
Ahead of the President's trip to Noonu Atoll, the MP called on his constituents not to go out and welcome the President during his visit.
