The Met Office issues a yellow alert for the northernmost provinces due to bad weather affecting major parts of the country.
It said that the alert would be from Haa Aifu Atoll in the north to Baa Atoll between 12:00 pm in the afternoon to 03:00 pm in the evening.
The Met Office said that during this time there would be strong winds of 25-30 miles per hour with gusts of 50mph with rough seas expected.
In the yellow alert-issued areas, vessels under nine meters will be prohibited from carrying passengers and any vessels of that size except that of security personnel.
A yellow alert is issued to alert authorities and the public to a potential disaster caused by severe weather. The National Meteorological Agency also advises people not to travel by sea except for essential trips during the warning period.
