Police say they have decided to do an autopsy of the victim of a fatal stabbing that happened on Laamu Atoll, Maavah, earlier this week.

They said that they are making arrangements to send the victim's body abroad for the autopsy after bringing it to Male' yesterday.

The fatal stabbing occurred after a scuffle between the victim and another individual near the volleyball court on Monday morning.

Police reported that the victim was rushed to the hospital following the attack and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Police also stated that they had arrested the individual suspected of stabbing Moosa. Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Mohamed Ibrahim of Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaram.

Police further said that they have found the weapon used in the stabbing, which had been thrown into the sea after the attack.

They have yet to give a motive for the attack, but added that they were further investigating the attack.
