The Civil Court has scheduled a hearing for the case asking the court to repeat the MDP Presidential Primary held last month.
The case tabled the hearing of the case after it accepted just one of the three cases filed at the court in relation to the highly contested primary in which President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih secured the MDP ticket for himself.
It said that the hearing would be held at 10:00 am on the 28th of this month.
The case accepted by the Civil Court said that many members of MDP were axed from the party against the regulations on membership removal and that around 39,000 members were removed like this.
The complaint asked the court to issue an injunction on MDP ordering it to re-hold the primary as a presidential primary held without the removed members cannot be deemed legitimate.
The complaint also asked the court for an injunction to stop MDP from handing over its Presidential Ticket to the winner of the primary but MDP has handed over the ticket to President Solih at a special rally last Friday.
President Solih defeated Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed in the first-ever competitive presidential primary held by MDP with a margin of 8925 votes.
