MDP Chairperson and Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail ask his adversaries to keep his family out of political debates and criticisms.
Fayyaz said some opponents have confronted his wife and children in the streets and accused supporters of the Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed were behind these acts.
Following these accusations, Speaker Nasheed requested his supporters to leave Fayyaz's family out of politics. He made the appeal via the MDP Social Media group.
Minister Fayyaz said he appreciated and respected Nasheed's appeal.
This comes amid a heated battle between the two factions of MDP ahead of the Party Primary scheduled for later this month. Speaker Nasheed would be competing against President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the Primary election tabled for the 28th of this month.
Though Minister Fayyaz supports President Solih, he has not been seen at the President's campaign activities and appears to be staying neutral as party Chairperson.
