President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has repeated his vow to give land plots to the residents of Male' as he looks to secure the MDP Presidential Candidacy ahead of the elections this year.
The President made the remarks last night while speaking with his campaign team and supporters during a meeting held at Dharubaaru ge. The President is competing with the Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed in the MDP Primary scheduled for later this month.
President Solih said that as he had vowed before, his administration would not leave any Male' residents without housing and that he would give land plots and flats.
Noting that the government is planning to give out 7,000 flats and 5,000 land plots just for Male' residents, President Solih noted that his administration is undertaking bigger housing projects than any other government in its five years of power.
He noted that the government was overseeing the construction of more than 16,000 flats, row houses, and land plots across the country.
President Solih highlighted that as per his earlier promise, his administration would give out the land plots allocated for Male' residents this year.
He mentioned that this had nothing to do with the election and that he was not trying to gain votes by this promise.
The President added that the government would complete the flats it had initiated during this term.
