Police have arrested a man for making fraudulent purchases worth MVR 170,000 from a store on Lhaviyani Atoll Hinnavaru.
The suspect had reportedly sent in fake bank statements after making purchases from the store.
Police said that they arrested a 30-year-old local man in relation to the case and that the suspect was arrested under a court order.
They said that the suspect had made fraudulent purchases over many days and that the investigation so far shows that the suspect has been widely involved in such criminal activity.
Police also said that the Court had remanded the suspect in custody for 15 days.
They added that the Police were further investigating the case.
