Education Ministry says higher secondary education students in the Maldives would now be sitting for Cambridge International AS level and A'level exams instead of Edexcel International AS and A'level Exams.
The Ministry said in a statement that schools would begin teaching for the Cambridge International AS exams starting next academic year.
It said that the first Cambridge International AS exams would be held in the Maldives in October/November of 2024.
As for Cambridge International A'levels, the Ministry said students would be taught for the exams in the 2024-2025 academic year.
It added that the first Cambridge International A'level exams would be held in October/November of 2025.
The Ministry said that even with this change, studies of those students currently in the higher secondary grades and starting the level would not be disrupted.
In the Maldives, A'level students have been taking the Edexcel exams.
