Maldives National Defense Force MNDF has said that they had found debris from the boat that sank off Vaavu Fussaru floating north of Faafu Atoll.
MNDF had earlier said that they were searching for a boat that sank near Fussaru with 3 onboard and that the vessel had been en route to Male' from Faafu Feeali.
They said that MNDF had initially received the distress call from the boat named 'Athamaa-5' last night and that the boat had been traveling around 4 nautical miles off Fussaru after loading reef fish from fishermen near feeali.
In a separate update, MNDF had said that they had found what they believed to be debris from the boat 1 nautical mile off Faafu Atoll.
But there was no news of the three people missing after the boat had sunk off Fussaru.
MNDF is conducting its search for the missing individuals as well as the vessel itself.
