The government had decided to temporarily shift the students of Al Madhrasathul Arabiyyathul Islamiyya (Arabiyya School) to the building that used to house the Foreign Ministry.
It has been reported that the Education Ministry is currently renovating the building to make it suitable for students including setting up classrooms for the students.
This comes after President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced that the government had decided to develop the Old Jamaludeen land plot as the new building for the Arab-medium school.
He made the announcement during his meeting with the members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school at his office earlier this week.
During the meeting, discussions focused on concerns over the current state of the Arabiyya School building.
At the meeting, members of the PTA expressed their concerns over temporary solutions proposed by the Ministry of Education.
They further discussed with the President the challenges facing the students and suggested ways to address the issues.
At the meeting, President Solih informed the members of the PTA of the administration’s decision to develop a new building for the school on the land plot of the old Jamaluddin School.
He further said he would confer with the ministry and relevant authorities to explore avenues to resolve the concerns raised at the meeting.
The decision from the government follows defiance from the PTA and parents of the school over the Education Ministry's decision to temporarily move the students of Arabiyya School to Izzudheen school in Male'.
