Health Protection Agency HPA has announced that it would begin vaccinating the last eligible age group for COVID-19 inoculation tomorrow.
HPA said that it would begin administering COVID-19 vaccination to all the individuals above 18 years of age currently living in the Greater Male' Area tomorrow.
HPA had begun vaccinating all above 20 years of age living in the Male' area on Monday while it had also said COVID-19 vaccination would continue for caretakers of bedridden patients as well as high-risk groups between the ages of 18-20 years.
HPA had urged all eligible age groups to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 and had said that as more get vaccinated against the pandemic, it would be harder for the pandemic to spread.
Meanwhile, HPA said tonight that a total of 6,500 people were vaccinated today in the country. It said that this includes 2,105 from the Greater Male' area and 4,445 from the Atolls.
HPA said this takes the total number of people vaccinated against the pandemic to a promising 123,665. It added that this includes 79,356 from the Greater Male' Area and 44,309 from the Atolls.
The agency had said t said that a total of 111,415 people have now been given the first dose of the covisheild vaccine donated by India.
HPA indicated that there are 7 vaccination centers and 2 mobile vaccination centers in the Greater Male' Area while authorities have set up 169 vaccination centers in the Atolls.
