Health Protection Agency HPA has today begun vaccinating all individuals above the age of 20-years living in the Greater Male' Area against the COVID-19 pandemic.
HPA said that vaccination is now open for all individuals above the age of 20 years currently living in the Greater Male' Area of Male', Villimale, and Hulhumale'.
HPA also said COVID-19 vaccination would continue for caretakers of bedridden patients as well as high-risk groups between the ages of 18-20 years.
HPA had urged all eligible age groups to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 and had said that as more get vaccinated against the pandemic, it would be harder for the pandemic to spread.
The agency had last night said that a total of 111,415 people have now been given the first dose of the covisheild vaccine donated by India.
It had said that this includes 75, 163 from the Greater Male' Area and 36,252 from the Atolls.
Yesterday alone, HPA had overseen the vaccination of nearly 6000 people across the country.
HPA had said that there are 7 vaccination centers and 2 mobile vaccination centers in the Greater Male' Area while authorities have set up 169 vaccination centers in the Atolls.
