Health Emergency Operations Center HEOC says two more individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 from Haa Alifu Atoll Dhihdhoo.

Speaking to 'The Press', HEOC said that both the individuals had tested positive after they had given release samples having completed the mandatory 10-days of home quarantine.

HEOC had confirmed that with the new cases, a total of 5 positive cases have been reported from the island this month.

Another person had tested positive for COVID-19 last Tuesday while an elderly individual had tested for COVID-19 from the island last week.

Haa Alifu Atoll Hospital had said that one of the five COVID-19 cases is a high-risk patient and that the patient has now been moved to the COVID facility in Shaviyani Atoll Funadhoo.

Meanwhile, Health Protection Agency HPA had yesterday reported an additional 108 new cases of COVID-19 across the country. This includes 76 new cases reported from the Greater Male' Area, 12 from inhabited islands, and 20 from operational resorts.

HPA confirmed that the total number of COVID-19 cases reported from the country has now reached 19,038. HPA said that there are currently 2429 active cases and that 167 COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized for further treatment.

HPA added that 16, 542 people have since recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic here in the Maldives.

A total of 60 people have succumbed to the global pandemic in the island nation of Maldives including 53 locals and 7 foreigners.
