Health Protection Agency HPA confirms that a 92-year-old Maldivian has died of Covid-1 in the country.
HPA said that the man died around 11:54 pm last night while under treatment for COVID-19 at Dharumavantha Hospital 11th floor DH11.
This is the second person to die of COVID-19 this week in the Maldives.
Earlier this week, HPA had said that a 43-year-old Fillippino man has succumbed to the illness in the Maldives.
The newest death takes the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the country to 10. This includes 5 locals and 5 foreigners.
All the locals who have died of COVID-19 were above 80-years of age and this includes three men and two women.
As for the foreigners who died of COVID-19 in the Maldives four of them were Bangladeshi nationals while a Fillipino man had also died of COVID-19 in the Maldives.
