HPA’s top epidemiologist Dr. Ibrahim Afzal has reminded the public to be mindful of certain things when taking children outside during phase 2 of the lockdown ease.
Speaking to the media, he said that children should be made used to cleaning their hands with sanitizer and that parents and guardians should avoid parks and public spaces where a lot of children are present. But he said that children should be among the family even when outside during the lockdown ease.
Dr. Afzal also urged the general public to avoid going outside during the two hours designated by the HPA for children to go outside amid the lockdown ease. The time allocated for children is from 4 pm to 6 pm.
The epidemiologist had said before that children below 2 years and those unable to take off their facemasks should not wear facemasks when going outside.
He had also urged those who go out to exercise and elderly individuals with breathing difficulties not to wear facemasks.
Dr. Afzal urged the general public not to go outside during the time designated for senior citizens by the HPA, which falls between 5 am to 8 am each day.
