Health Protection Agency HPA reports a 6th Maldivian national from Male' has tested positive for Covid-19 with Greater Male' Area still under 24hrs lockdown.
In a tweet, HPA said a sample from a Maldivian national who was direct contact of case 23 has tested positive for the highly contagious virus.
HPA added that authorities were now moving the individual to a isolation facility.
This comes after two others who were also direct contacts of case 23 tested positive for Covid-19.
HPA had earlier identifed 35 contacts of case 23, seven of them regarded as high risk contacts while remaining 28 deemed as medium risk contacts.
The Greater Male' Area is currently under lockdown with pedastrians and unauthorized vehicles banned from the roads.
Also, with contacts of the positive cases scattered around the country, HPA has banned non-essential travel within islands starting from 18:00hrs today.
