One person has died after a supply vessel traveling near Haa Dhaalu Kumundhoo capsized earlier today.
Reports stated that the 4 individuals were aboard the vessel when it capsized and that two were seriously injured in the incident.
The injured were rushed to the Regional Hospital on the nearby Kulhudhufushi. The Press has come to know that one of the injured individuals, a 66-year-old man, succumbed to her injuries while being treated at the hospital.
The second individual who was injured is still receiving treatment.
The vessel with a crew of two locals and two foreigners had been carrying goods to Shaviyani Funadhoo.
It is unclear why the boat capsized, but this is the second serious sea incident reported across the country in the last 24 hours.
A dinghy traveling to Kaafu Guraidhoo with 17 aboard capsized last night, and the Maldives National Defence Force, MNDF, rescued 15 out of the 17. The other two swam to a nearby resort.
