Health Protection Agency (HPA) have requested from Maldives public to report to the authority at 'any sight of the common cold.'

The authority requested to voluntarily report to them if anyone observes symptoms related to cold.

Official spokesperson on COVID-19 developments in Maldives, Mohamed Mabrouk Azeez confirmed a total of 207 individuals who came in contact with case 21 and case 22 (the first reported case from Male' City and her infant child, respectively) were discovered through contact tracing.

Azeez further commented the contacts were discovered based on the people, the positive cases had met within the last 5-day period.

Meanwhile, 35 individuals who came in contact with case 23 (a direct contact of both case 21 and 22) have been identified by Health Protection Agency (HPA) through contact tracing.

The health emergency alert status for Greater Male' Region have been bumped up to a 'Red Level 4' in light of positive cases discovered in Male' City.

Dr Ibrahim Afzal, who sits at the Technical Advisory Group (TAG), said the health authorities will continue to monitor in order to assess the level of viral spread across Maldives.

He had advised from citizens to provide with accurate information for contact tracing procedures by HPA, warning the dangers posed to the entire community by keeping correct information discreet.
