Waste Management Corporation Ltd WAMCO says residence of Greater Male’ Area should place their trash on the curbs outside their houses as authorities tighten lockdown measures currently in place in Male’ City.

Briefing the media on the corporation’s operations during the lockdown, Operations Manager Mohamed Shaan said residence of Male’, Hulhumale’ and Villimale should take the trash out of their premises and place it on the curbs between 12:00hrs and 14:00hrs each day.

Shaan urged the public to securely close the trash bags and double bag the waste.

Shaan also advised WAMCO customers to be mindful when throwing out sharp objects and broken glasses and wrap these objects in paper before putting them in trash bags.

He also said that a special task force team will collect waste from residences placed under HPA monitoring in relation to the spread of Covid-19 and this team is specially trained for this task.

Seven residences in Male’ are currently under HPA monitoring.

WAMCO’s announcement came after HPA ordered a lockdown to Greater Male’ Area following its first case of Covid-19 reported early yesterday.
