Health Protection Agency HPA says 14 individuals with Covid-19 like symptoms have been isolated with authorities now anticipating a massive outbreak of the virus.
In a tweet, HPA said that these 14 individals were moved to Hulhule Isolation Facility (HIF).
HPA clarified that the individuals are contacts of case 21.
Case 21 has left authorities scrambling as the person was tested positive for Covid-19 with no recent travel history or any direct contact with a person tested positive for the virus.
Two more individuals have now tested positive for Covid-19 in relation to case 21.
Authorities have raised Male alert status to Red-level 1 after the confirmation of the community spread of the virus.
HPA announced a 24hr lockdown in Greater Male' Area.
This means complete restriction of movement and stopping public transport services for the next 24 hours.
