The Maldives Civil Court on Wednesday announced it will be temporary shutting down on all of its administrative conduct, after authorities reported a COVID-19 positive case in Male' City.
The court's administration on Wednesday morning announced, it will remain closed from 11:45hrs from 15 April 2020 until further notice.
Moreover, all scheduled trials and hearings of the court have been cancelled with no future scheduling.
Meanwhile, some of the Maldivian courts have been continuing their trials through digital or online medium.
On Wednesday morning, health authorities confirmed the first positive case from mainland Male' City.
The presence of the viral disease was confirmed after the individual had consulted at a local flu clinic. Post test for the COVID-19 virus, it was discovered the Maldivian local contracted the disease.
Furthermore, HPA clarified the newly reported patient does not have any recent travel history.
On Tuesday evening, during a press conference Dr Fathimath Nazla Rafiq warned the Greater Male' Region face the danger of over 46,000 possible cases if quickly not responded with once it reaches Male' City area.
An experimental model on Maldives conducted by World Health Organization (WHO) and the Imperial College of United States, showed the island nation estimates a death rate of 1,403 should the disease spread across inhabited islands.
The experimental model further projected a total number of positive cases at 140,258 (roughly 65% of the country's population) with critical case scenario total at 7,013 patients.
