Officials Spokesperson for Covid-19 updates Mohamed Mabrouk Azeez says five patients who arrived on the rescue flight from India today have been quarantined at Indhiraa Gandhi Memorial Hospital IGMH.

Speaking to the media at Dharubaaruge Mabrouk said these five patients receiving treatment for kidney ailments and they were quarantined at a special section of the hospital.

Mabrouk said 3 out of the 5 individuals required daily dialysis as part of their treatment regiments.

National airline Maldivian chartered a rescue flight to India today and brought back 159 Maldivians stranded in the Indian cities of Bangalore and Cohi as a result of Covid-19. Authorities have said that government will facilitate the return of 157 Maldivians who travelled to India for medicinal purposes through national health scheme Aasandha.

Authorities have advised Maldivians who are abroad to delay travelling back to the country citing that airports have been identified as hotspots for the contagious virus.
