Official Spokesperson for Covid-19 related updates Mr. Mabrouk Azeez says contact tracing for the two Maldivians tested positive for Covid-19 has been completed and that 77 people have been identified as contacts of the two patients.

Addressing the media earlier tonight, Mr. Mabrouk said to avoid confusion the first Maldivian that was tested positive will be referred as case 16 and the second Maldivian tested positive would be referred as case 17.

Clarifying further, Mr. Mabrouk said 29 people have identified as contact of Case 16 and those individuals have now been ordered to stay under home quarantine.

Mr. Mabourk said 48 people have been identified as contacts of Case 17 and 5 of those individuals have been moved to isolation facilities. He said while another 3 people have quarantined at a government-sanctioned facility, 2 others have now been ordered to stay under home quarantine.

Official Spokesman said a total of 1093 samples have been taken to test for Covid-19 with only 17 coming back positive. He said while 1065 samples have tested negative for Covid-19, 11 samples were still pending.

Seventeen people have tested positive for the global pandemic here in the Maldives with 13 now declared cured of the virus. Two Italians who tested positive for the virus have departed back to their country on Friday.

Currently, only the two Maldivians who earlier tested positive for the virus remain under treatment.
