First Lady Saajidha Mohamed condemned the black oil attack against MDP activist Mariyam Zubair (Mandhy) last night.

After the MDP protest yesterday, Mandhy was on her way home when people wearing helmets and masks threw a bottle of black oil at her on Majeedhee Magu.

Videos on social media showed that Mandhy's face and hair were covered with oil and the vehicle she was traveling on was also covered in oil.

In a social media post, the First Lady said that such attacks and harassment are completely unacceptable. She called on all to avoid escalating tension at a time like this and allow for the process of justice to be facilitated.

Mandhy is one of the individuals the First Lady had said she would file civil charges against after comments about the First Lady and President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's 16-year-old son. The First Lady, through her lawyers, has said that she would file charges against MDP Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail as well as MDP.

She had said that she is pursuing these charges as a mother whose child has been threatened, harassed, and bullied which could negatively his educational life and future.

Speaking at an MDP protest, Mandhy accused the government of orchestrating a ban on vaping to stop the First Couple's son from vaping. Her accusations were summarily denied by the First Family.
