Police have arrested a foreigner for touching and sexually harassing two women near Rasfannu Beach in Male'.
Police said they arrested a 28-year-old Sri Lankan national named Sanjya Kumar.
The Criminal Court remanded him for 5 days in Police custody. At the remand hearing, the suspect denied the allegations made against him.
He said one of the women walked in front of him and turned back and accused him of touching her. He also said that he had not harassed the women.
Police continue to investigate the case. Such cases are not uncommon in the Maldives.
