The Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development says the data relating to the 'Gedhoruveriya' housing scheme remains safe from the fire that set the Ministry ablaze today.
The Ministry said in a statement that, none of its employees were injured in the fire that had damaged the Ministry beyond use while also damaging the Construction Ministry and the Environment Ministry.
The Housing Ministry also assured that the data and documents related to the Gedhoruveriya scheme are digitally stored on the Ministry's cloud housing and that these documents have not been affected by the fire incident.
It further said that the Ministry would be conferring with the authorities on the safety matters regarding the incident and that it would keep informing the public about the outcomes.
The fire was initially reported at the Housing Ministry but quickly spread to the adjacent Ministries. Maldives National Defense Force MNDF has now brought the fire under control.
