President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called for a whole-of-society approach to empower young people, ensuring their voices are heard and their actions integrated into decision-making at all levels, from local communities to global platforms, in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and beyond.
In a post on his official X account, the President urged those in positions of responsibility to nurture the creative talents of young people and provide them with the resources to shape their futures.
In his message, President Dr Muizzu noted that today’s youth have amplified their voices, facilitating inclusive and impactful dialogue across regions and islands. He stressed that Maldivian youth continue to prove that age is no barrier to making a difference.
With young people projected to make up 57 per cent of the global population by 2030, empowering them to take on decision-making roles is more critical than ever.
The President highlighted the establishment of the Presidential Youth Advisory Board, designed to provide young people a direct role in shaping national progress by integrating youth policies into broader development plans, building partnerships, and turning ideas into solutions.
Alongside this, the “Zuvaanunge Third Space” is being developed as a platform for skills development and dialogue, reflecting the Government’s commitment to youth well-being and inclusive growth.
President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed that he is determined to see youth lead the development of a strong digital economy with access to resources, benefit from housing priority for young families, and receive the support needed to translate their ideas into action for a more connected and prosperous future.
