Two motorcycles have collided near the airport traffic light at the end of the Sinamale' Bridge.
Police said that the collision happened around 12:57 in the afternoon. They also said one of the riders was injured in the collision and was rushed to the hospital.
Police said the victim was a local woman.
They also said both motorists had valid driving licenses and that they were further investigating the accident.
There has been a recent spike in road accidents in the Greater Male' Area including Male' and Hulhumale'. This prompted Police to set up Vehicle Check Points in the area.
Police said vehicle checkpoints will be set up in various parts of Male' and Hulhumale' to inspect driving licenses and other documents.
They said officers will also advise and raise awareness to help drivers pay attention to road safety.
Police have also advised the public to ensure that all safety measures are taken before using the vehicle.
