President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says the government has decided to compile the national development plan for the next 20 years.

Speaking on a video clip released by his office, President Muizzu said that he decided this at the cabinet meeting held yesterday.

President Muizzu said this was an important pledge made during his Presidential campaign and that it was a developmental pledge. He said the plan would be developed within the next year.

The President also revealed that the plan will be made with the participation of the people and in consultation with all relevant stakeholders including political parties, field experts, NGOs, and organizations.

President Muizzu further said that a separate law would be enacted to make the plan legally binding and protected.

The President said the main objective of this is to gather the people's ideas and consultations to determine the vision the Maldives for the next 20 years.
