Police have arrested a man who hit a police officer with his cycle last night in Male'.
Police said that around 1:20 in the morning, officers at a vehicle checkpoint near Rasfannu indicated a motorcycle rider speeding and riding erratically to stop.
However, Police said that the motorist attempted to ignore the instructions and escape from the scene. They said the suspect was then arrested for disobeying police orders and identified the suspect as Adam Zidhan from Ma. Hiththala Villa.
Police said that while the suspect was trying to escape, he hit a police officer with his motorcycle.
They said the suspect was remanded in custody for 5 days by the Criminal Court.
Police added that they are investigating the case and that the suspect's motorcycle has been towed.
