Police say they have destroyed more than 200 vehicles that have been in its tow yard for a long time and that these vehicles were destroyed as per rules.
They said that between July 1st and August 31st, 205 vehicles were destroyed.
Giving a further breakdown, Police said the destroyed vehicles include 37 cars, 84 cycles, and 114 motorcycles. Police also said that 173 vehicles that were illegally parked in Hulhumale have now been relocated.
Authorities have relocated a huge number of vehicles from the streets of Hulhumale in their efforts to decrease traffic congestion in the area. They have said that 192 vehicles have been towed from Phase 1 alone.
These included eight vehicles towed for illegal parking, 37 vehicles for dangerous driving and 147 vehicles for driving without a license.
