The United States Government has committed an additional USD 8.5 million to the Maldives, increasing the total value of the agreement to USD 45.7 million.
This comes after the two countries signed the Fourteenth Amendment to the Development Objective Grant Agreement (DOAG).
During the signing ceremony that took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the amendment was signed by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheryna Abdul Samad, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Maldives and by USAID Mission Director, Gabriel Grau, on behalf of the Government of the United States of America.
The DOAG is a landmark development cooperation agreement signed between the Maldives and the United States to strengthen the technical capacity of the Maldives in managing public finances and bolster the resilience of the country's economic and democratic governance.
Over the years, there have been gradual increases in the funding allocated.
