Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged members of the Democrats who left MDP because of the discord between him and former President Mohamed Nasheed.

Speaking in an interview aired by 'Raaje TV' on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of MDP, the former President of MDP said that the party lost the last presidential election because some of its members left the party and these members should now think about working together.

He called on these members to return to MDP.

The former President also urged members to set aside their problems and personal issues with him and move forward with the work of reforming the country. He said that they all started the party (MDP) together to achieve something and that this work is yet to be completed.

Solih further said that the people still have hope for MDP and if they remained unified they can come back to power in the next term.

Meanwhile, the former President's long-time friend and colleague former President Mohamed Nasheed shared a clip of Solih's interview on X and stated that he agreed with the former President.

Nasheed said that he also has hope that they can all progress in the direction set by Solih.

The Democrats started as a faction within MDP after Nasheed lost the party's presidential candidate for the 2023 Presidential election to Solih. The faction then broke away from MDP and formed a political party of its own with former top members of MDP at its helm.
