Defence Ministry says it would take action against those who fly drones without obtaining permits as more and more individuals fly drones near areas where security is managed by MNDF.

In an announcement today, the Ministry said that the number of drone flights in areas including army security areas and airports has increased, acts that could pose a threat to the security and air traffic of these facilities.

Noting that it had asked drone operators to obtain permits before, the Ministry once again urged to obtain the permits three days before flying the drone in the area.

It warned that it would take action against those who operate drones without obtaining the necessary permits. The Ministry also said that it would not take responsibility for damage caused to the drones operated without permits.

The Defense Ministry has previously said that drones will be allowed to fly within a radius of 50 meters in urban areas and operate within a radius of 150 meters in maritime areas.
