MP-elect for Kurendhoo Constituency Shamin Habeeb has joined the ruling PNC.

This was confirmed by the party via 'X' in a post in which it shared pictures of the MP-elect handing over his membership form to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

This means, 74 MPs would now represent PNC at the 20th Parliament which take its oath of office later this month.

Shamin competed for the Kurendhoo seat as an independent candidate and won 39.86 percent of the votes which amounts to 741 votes. He won the seat by competing against candidates from MDP, PNC as well as MNP, and another independent candidate.

He is also one of the many independent candidates who joined PNC after winning seats in the 20th Parliament in the parliamentary election held in April.

His joining PNC further cements the party's control in the upcoming parliament having secured a supermajority.
