State Electric Company Stelco Managing Director Hussain Fahmy has announced that the company would continue the government-promised Ramadan discount for this month's electricity bills.

This comes after public concern and outrage over high electricity bills this month after the government had given a discount for the previous bill citing high electricity usage in Ramadan.

Fahmy said in a post on X that Stelco has decided to give a discount for electricity use during Ramadan as promised by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. This would mean the discount would be applied to the electricity bill issued this month.

He said bills already sent to customers will be revised and resent as soon as possible after the discount is applied.

Fahmy assured that the company would continue to do everything it can for the benefit of the people under the Government's strong and compassionate policies.

Last night Fahmy said that next month's electricity bill could also be high as the electricity usage continues to grow in the country amid the hottest days the country has experienced in recent days.
