Maldives Police Services have appointed Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Shifan as its Spokesperson.

In a post, the Police said that the duties of the Police Spokesperson have been assigned to Shifan in addition to the responsibilities he is currently handling.

Shifan is currently the head of the Office of Commissioner. During the government of former President Abdullah Yameen, Shifan acted as the Spokesperson for Police.

During the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Shifan was appointed as the head of the Police college and has also acted as the head of Male' City Police Division.

While the Police have assigned a spokesperson, the government has yet to replace its chief spokesperson after it transferred its first Spokesperson to a Foreign Ministry post days after making the appointment.
