Police say the man who fell from a building in Male' is in serious condition.
Police had said earlier that they received the report of the incident around 10:30 a.m. this morning and that the individual had been rushed to the hospital.
In its latest update, Police said that the man had fallen to the lowest level of the building's stairwell from its 9th floor. Police identified the victim as a 20-year-old Indian.
They said that the victim was being treated at IGMH in Male' and that according to the Hospital, he remains in serious condition.
Unverified reports state the individual had fallen from the 9th story of a building that houses the 'Big Man' restaurant in Chandhanee Magu.
Some media reported that the man had been working on an air conditioner in the building when he fell.
Such incidents are not uncommon in the Maldives. Last year, a 4-year-old child died after falling from a building on Hulhumale while a 15-year-old died after falling from the 15th floor of Hiya Tower 12 in Hulhumale' Phase II.
