The Blue Fin Tuna Fishermen's Union has alleged that the Indian navy stormed another Maldivian vessel on Thursday night.

The Union said that the Indian Navy stormed a fishing vessel named "Mahoraa 3" from Ihavandhoo around midnight while it was traveling 30 miles off the Molhadhoo navigation mark in Maldivian waters.

It said that the Indian troops boarded the vessel and searched while also threatening the fishermen on the vessel.

A fisherman from Ihavandhoo cited the captain of the vessel to say that the Indian navy/coastguard ship ordered the Maldivian vessel to stop and chase after it when it did not obey their commands. The Captain was quoted as saying that when the chase began the vessel received communication range but when the Indian ship neared the vessel they lost the connection.

The Indian stormed the vessel while carrying weapons and the captain said that the locals obeyed the commands with fear that the Indian might fire on them.

The Union said that the incident has now been shared with the Maldivian coastguard and called on authorities to ensure the safety of Maldivian fishermen and seafarers.

This comes a few days after the Indian Naval/Coast Guard boarded a Maldivian vessel off Thuraakunu in the north and the Defense Ministry has since said that Indian troops stormed a total of 3 vessels in the area.
