The Health Protection Agency, HPA, has confirmed two more cases of measles in the Greater Male' area.
HPA said that this takes the total number of cases found to 11.
HPA has asked the community to ensure they have received two doses of the measles vaccine to control the spread of the disease, and that children receive their measles vaccine doses at the right ages.
The highly contagious disease has been eradicated in the Maldives through nationwide vaccination campaigns and awareness campaigns.
However, isolated measles cases have popped up in the country over the years, mostly among those who have contracted the disease while traveling abroad.
The HPA confirmed that it was taking several preventive measures to curb the spread of the cases in the Greater Male' area, and this includes vaccinating those who came in contact with the positive patients.
The agency also said that it would launch a vaccination campaign for those who have not completed their measles doses in the community.
It said that they were in the process of acquiring the necessary vaccines from abroad for the program.
