President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reinstated the members of his cabinet who did not get the backing of the Parliament today after the legislative house rejected three key appointments.

The parliament voted to approve 19 out of the 22 cabinet members appointed by the President. Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed, and Attorney General Ahmed Usham failed to garner support to receive the backing of the parliament.

But it has now been confirmed that President Muizzu has once again reappointed the cabinet members hours after the parliament's decision. Local media are also reporting that the 2 Ministers and the Attorney General have also taken their oaths of office.

The government was expected to reinstate the Ministers and Attorney General Usham to their posts as indicated by the President's top Advisor Abdul Raheem Abdullah yesterday.

He said that the President has the discretion to reinstate any cabinet member who is rejected by the Parliament to the same post.
