The Parliament has refused to approve two of the cabinet Ministers of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the Attorney General he appointed.
The Parliament sat down for the cabinet approval voting today after tumultuous scenes in the Parliament yesterday.
In today's session, the Parliament voted to reject Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed, and Attorney General Ahmed Usham.
Usham's appointment was rejected with a vote from 44 out of the 64 MPs who took part in the vote. A total of 24 MPs voted in favour of his appointment as the government's top lawyer.
Meanwhile, 31 MPs voted in favour of Islamic Minister Shaheem while 30 MPs voted against him. A total of 8 MPs abstained from voting.
Housing Minister Haidar received the most No votes in today's session with 46 MPs voting against him while 24 MPs voted in favour of him.
The Parliament backed the rest of 19 members of President Muizzu's cabinet.
