Maldives Airports Company Limited MACL which operates the country's main international airport Velaana Airport has urged travellers to arrive hours early for their international and domestic flights ahead of peak tourist season and local school holidays.

MACL said in a post via X that to avoid long queues and possible delays, passengers traveling abroad are advised to arrive at the airport 3 hours before their international flight.

The Company also said that those traveling domestically are advised to arrive at the airport 2 hours before their domestic flights.

Earlier this week, MACL said the arrival and departure terminals at the Velaanaa International Airport VIA are experiencing high traffic ahead of peak season and local school holidays.

MACL said via a post on 'X' that due to the high volume of arriving & Umra passengers, the departure and arrival terminals of VIA are experiencing increased traffic.

The Company urged passengers and their families coming to see off or receive passengers to follow the guidance of MACL staff for a smoother experience.

MACL also advised the public to minimize the number of family members who come to receive and see off travelers to reduce overcrowding.

The coming few weeks could see high traffic and congestion at the main international airport in the Maldives as the tourism industry approaches peak season.

The peak season also falls on the first term break for local schools and many families are expected to go abroad during the holidays.
